SUDDEN DEATH AT ARCH HILL.
Mr George Peace, a well-known and highly - respecbed residenb of Arch Hill, died suddenly yesberday afternoon, appar- / entiy from hearb disease. He was driving along with a load of wood, and when in fronb of Mr -A. Lee's grocery shop, Greab Norbri Road, he Was noticed to fall backwards in the cart. Mr Lee ran out to his assistance, and seeing thafc he was evidently in a dangerous condition, Mr Lee, assisted by some others, removed Mr Peace into his house. Messengers were despatched for medical aid, arid also for members of Mr Peace's fairiily. Dr. Walker was the first medical gentleman in attendance, but Could do nothing towards relieving the sufferer. -Mr Peace recovered consciousnese y and died-shos-ly afterwards in the arms Of his Kate, her mother being also present. Dr. Lewis arrived jilst in time to pronounce that life, was extinct; The body was bhen removed to the residence of bhe deceased. As Dr. Walker is prepared to certify as to bhe cause 6f death, an inquest will not be necessary.
Mr Peace was a nabive Of Kirkwall* Scobland, and came to this colony about thirty years ago. For the lasb twenty years he has resided in Arch Hill, and being a \ hard-working, industrious man, has left his , wife and family fairly provided for, having acquired a household property. Deceased was 55 years of age. He leaveg a wife, one son, and six daughters to mourn their loss. Albhough in considerable "pain 7wJ»en firsb seized deceased passed away peacefully. He said, ','Lifbme up, lift me up, or I'll die, "and then passed away., a consistenb Christian, and respected by att v with whom he was acquainted. ; About the time of his father's death, the 3on, George Peace, was training in the, : Domain, and Was selected to go to Daned-ii to represent fche Amateur Athletic Club in the forthcoming Champion Walking Match.' Under the circumstances, he Will, of co»w-se r be unable to accept the position.
