Federation League.

PROftoSEP AUSTRALIAN

DOMINION.

INTERVIEW WITH SIR

HERCULES ROBINSON.

London", December 3,

Mr Howard Vincent, M.P., and other members of the organisation, are protesting that . the Federation League is in danger of being converted into a mere conference. The Earl of Carnarvon (the promoter of the League), Sir Charles Tupper, Sir Daniel Cooper, Mr Patsden, and a majority of the members support the view of Lord Rosebery, who contends that the League will exist with much benefit to the Empire for many years, even if the proposal to hold periodical conferences is conceded.

Sir Hercules Robinson has been intervied with reference to Sir Henry Parkes's proposal for the creation of an Australian Dominion. Whilst he admits, that he has not carefully studied the manifesto issued by the New South Wales Premier, he is inclined to the opinion thatHhe antagonistic fiscal policies of the various colonies, and the question as to which of the present capitals shall become the metropolis of the proposed Dominion, are apparent obstacles to the success of the scheme.
