LICENSING COURT.

AUCKLAND EAST.

Thb quarterly sitting of the above Licensing Committee was held at noon to-day, in the R.M. Courthouse. Present: Messrs J, J. Holland (Chairman), J. J. Craig, 3", Winks, and J. King, also Mr J. B. Stoney, liconsing clerk. Sergeant-Major Pratt re-; , presented the police.

Park Hotel.— On the application of MrC. Buddie the license of this hotel was transr ferred to George Henry Easton. City Club license of this, hotel was transferred from George Bosswelj Howard to Samuel Tooman on the appli* cation of Mr T. Cotter. •

Clarendon Hotel.—Mr C. Buddie applied to have the license transferred t< William Lynch. —Sergeant-Major Prati said that the police did not object. A\ the same time it was his duty to point out that a license had been refused Mr Lynch by another Committee. —Mr Cotter said it was hardly that. Mi Lynch was directed to transfer his license, which he did. —The Bench granted the application.

Queen's Head Hotel.—The license waa transferred from E. C. A- Rew te Jofea Darby on the application of Mr Clayton, i

Greyhound Hotel.—The licensee, Mr R. W. Brown, bad forwarded an application for permission to transfer the license of this hotel from, the old house to the new building at the corner of High - street. Mr Calder asked that this might be adjourned for one month, as the premises were nob sufficiently advanced at present. This was granted. Railway Refreshment Bars. — Chairman said that with reference to the report which had appeared in the papers with. regard to the sale of intoxicating liquors at the railway stations, the Committee were fully of opinion that this would be a mistake, and were quite prepared to die* cuss the matter with other with a view of protesting against the adoption of euch a course. They feared' -that these places would become mere drinking shops on Sundays, and would therefore willingly agree to protest against them.-—Mr Stoney said that City North Committee had decided, to meet City East on Friday.—The Chair-, man said their Committee would also attend to discuss the matter.
