AUCKLAND PRESBYTERY.
The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Presbytery was held this morning in Sb. Andrew's Church. There were presenb: The Revs. R. Sommerville (clerk), Macnicol, Macky, G. B. Monro, Hill, Worboys, Steele, Conine, Finlay ; and Elders Angus, White, and IvJcNab. In the absence of the Moderator, tho Rev. R. F. Macnicol took the chair.
Katii-.ati.—A resolution was read from this district in regard to the appointment of Mr Norrie, of Te Aroha, to y : sif! the congregation ; bub it was decided, as the people generally are well pleased with tho present arrangement, to allow it to stand.
Genkrai. Assembly.—The question of appointing representatives for the General Assembly was then discussed. It was decided that the Revs. Hudson, Scott West, W. Connie, W. P. Finlay, Carrick, Monro, Steele, and the following elders '.—Messrs Wliyte, J. Stewart, J. Patterson, with others willing to go, should be sent.
' Presbytkiiiax Mission, Rakotokga.— The Rev. Mr Monro stated that a gentleman had given him 10s 6d for the Presbyterian Mission at Rarotonga. He did not know whab to do with ib. Mr Sommerville suggested that the money should be sent to the convener of tho missions at Christchurch. Evangelistic Missions.—Tbe Rev.• Mr Monro gave a report on the evangelistic midsionscondiicted of late in connection with the various churches. They had been very successful financially, and had resulted in a number of people joining the church. There was a balance of £7, and he should like to know in whab way he shculd dispose of it. All bhose present spokd of the „ood effects of bhese missions. Ib was decidod to retain tho balance of if] for future use in the same direction.
Rklioxont a.yd Morals. —Mr Monro, convener of the Committee on this subject, asked whab should be done in regard bo the report on this matter? It was nob ready jusb yet. It wan decided thab ib be held over till next meeting of tho Presbytery. Notice of Motion.—The Clerk read the following notice of motion by the Row Mr Steele :—" That this Presbytery forward the following overture to the General Assembly : That a change be made in the mode of nominating moderators of the Assembly, and that in future the moderator be nominated by Presbyteries." TkA-oha.— It was decided to continue tho servicos ab this place.
