POLICE COURT.-THIS DAY.

(Before Dr. Giles, R.M.) Drunkenness.—Two firsb offenders W6re each fined ss, or in default 24 hours' hard labour. Thomas Dunn was fined 10s, or 24 hours in default, for a similar offience.

Thompson was charged with a similar breach of the Dog Registration Acb.—Defendant pleaded guiifcy.—Mr Stewart, on behalf of the Board, stated that they had been compelled to bring the action in order to show residents of Avondale that bhis law must be complied said that the Board owed him ss, and he told Mr Cox, the collector, bo keep bhat fOr the collar.—His Worship inflicted a fine of 5s and Court costs.

Alleged Assault. —Margaret Reid was charged wifch having on the 28bh of November assaulted one James Henry Bond. —Defendanb did nob appear.—Dr. Laishley appeared on behalf of the informant.— James Henry Bond deposed bhab'he'was a bailiff and was assaulbed by bhe defendanb whilsb in the execution of his duty. Witness was suro that th© woman was under the influence of liquor ab bhe bime she struck him.—J. B. Lnks, assistant bailiff, deposed to having assisted bo remove bhe goods from defendant's house.—The Bench inflicted a fine of £2 10s and costs, or in default seven days' hard labour.
