Considerable damage has been done by • bash fire which startedln the Waotu totara bush, Waikato, on Sunday afternoon last. Yesterday, the fire was raging fiercely, and fourteen buildings, chiefly dwelt-. ing houses, in addition to the mill,, were destroyed. Barnebb's house, which is situated near the mill,'had a .narrow escape, and was only saved by the most strenuous efforts. It is estimated that about a thousand acres of bush are on fire, and, io addition to the growing timber, a. large quantity of posts, stacked, ready for use, have b<wa demolished by the conflagration,
