The following wire has been sent to the Minister for Mines, Wellington :—" No excuse can be accepted for granting lease to prospectors, which have virtually a monopoly, as tho Land Department .in Auckland threaten proceedings against all other persons as trespassers, though they have applied for license. Public incensed, and position very unsatisfactory."
