PUHIPUHI SILVER FIELD.
(BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
Whangabei, this day. Pkoscects obtained from reefs " not a hundred miles " from the prospectors' claim are really geod. I believe it will open the eyes of the most sceptical. The following wire has been sent to the Minister for Mines, Wellington :—" No excuse can be accepted for granting lease to prospectors, which have virtually a monopoly, as tho Land Department .in Auckland threaten proceedings against all other persons as trespassers, though they have applied for license. Public incensed, and position very unsatisfactory." Thames, this day, 1 p.m. Mr George Wilson, Inspector of Mines for this district, has received. instructions from the Government to report on the Puhipuhi discovery. He will do so immediately upon conclusion of the Caledonian G.M. Co.'s appeal case, in which he is a witness, in the Supreme Court.
