Housewife.—Tho usual mode of measurement) of firewood is by allotting forty cubic feet to the ton, and your best method of ascertaining whether you have been cheated or not is to take the measurement of the heap of firewood as to length, breadth and height. A ton of long wood measures forty cubic feet, but when cut into short lengths, the wood may, if ab all crooked before being cut, obviously measure rather less.
