Thames, this day. A telegram received from Te Aroha today states that Mr Thomas Taylor, a settler at Waitoa, and father-in-law of Mr James Sawyer, of the Thames, has met with a painful accident. It appears that he wa3 standing near a horse and" cart when a lad close by discharged a gun, the result being that the horse became frightened and bolted, knocking Mr Taylor to the ground. His leg got underneath one of the wheels, which passed over it and fractured the limb. The sufferer was attended to by Dr. Hooper, and is now progressing as favourably as can be expected.
