CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
(BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
Hamilton, this day. A case of cruelty to animals was before the R.M. Court yesterday. \Villiam Coleman, driver for Mr Probino, storekeeper, of Tamahere, pleaded guilty to driving a horse with a sore chest. The accused said the horse's chest had been injured by a wire fence. He was very sorry, but thought the collar was not touching the bone, which, however, the police described as bad. Mr Sandes appeared for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The Bench fined the defendant 5s and costs (seven shillings), and also administered a severe caution as to using horses with sores in future.
