PROFESSORSHIP OF MUSIC.
APPOINTMENT AT OXFORD,
London, June 20.
John Stainer, Musical Doctor, has Been chosen to succeed the Rev. Sir Frederick Ouseley as Professor of Music at Oxford. Dr. Stainer is a brilliant instrumentalist, and has composed a large number of anthems and church services, as well as songs of a secular character. From time to time Dr. Stainer has acted as musical examiner to the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge and London.
