WELL STOPPED.
AnoET2ominutes'pasb three o'clock yesterday afternoon a horse and trap driven by a lad named Edward McCulsky caused a stir in Queen-street. Tho trap was standing in front of Mr Bull's shop, when something startled the horse, lb commenced kicking and then the breeching gave way. This made the frightened animal dash away ab a smarb pace down -Queen - sbreeb. Tho lad did his besb to pull up the horse but to no purpose. The shafts bumped on the road aud swayed about dangerously until ab lasb tho horse was perfectly uncontrollable. An accident seemed imminent. Jusb 'at this juncture Constable Dunne, who was on duty in front of the Thistle Hotel, rushed oub, and with great nerve seized bhe horse by bhe head. Almost immediately a man sprang from the crowd to his assistance arid the career of the horse was checked. This was done so suddenly that .the liorse itself was thrown on its haunches . and then rolled over on its back. Fortu- , nately no one was hurt, and little damage resulted to the cart. Credit is due to Dunne and his assistant for the plucky manner in < vWoh __sv «fca .wd the runaway.
