Proposed Gas Bill.—The Auckland Gas Company wrote notifying the Council of their proposed new Bill.—lt was decided to consider the Bill when a copy of sarno had been received.

Water Supply.—The turncock reported having visited houses in the Borough and found hose attached to the water .supply taps. He had also notified various householders to have leaky taps repaired. He also stated that water was wasted in flushing drains. It was resolved in future to prosecute persons found wasting water. It •was resolved, on the recommendation of the [Finance Committee, to have the hydrants altered as suggested by the Insurance Association, and also to obtain six buckets.

General Rate. —In accordances with notice of motion, a general rate of Is in the £ was struck upon the rateable property in the borough. . MlJNlcai'Ali Offices.—Tenders were i-e----ceived as follows for tho municipal offices and fire brigade station : — Kutt and Collier, £356 Is ; A. J. Chalmers, £396 ; W. H. Barriball, £345 ; Hirst and Moody, £332 10s; J. T. Julian, £335 ; J. Atkin, £380 15s. W. il. Barriball's tender was accepted. Special Meeting.—A special meeting of the Council was held, when tho resolution waa confirmed adopting certain clauses of the Rating Act, 1882, which give the Council power to recover rates from mortg'agas of property.
