Notice is hereby given that the BANK OF NJJ, W ZEALAND intends to present a Petition to the General Assembly of New Zealand at its ?ext Session pmying for leave to introduce a Bill to be intituled " An Act to Amend the New Zealand Bank Act, 1361." The objects oi' the said Bill are:— ; (a) To conihm and validate em-tain resolutions passed at a special general meeting of the proprietors ot the said Bank held on the 11th day ot October, 1888, and confirmed at a 3peuial generuA'n;eetii>fr oi' the said proprietors held on the 19th clay of October, 1888, and (b) To declare thrft payments to reinstate shares to their original value, as provided by No. 2ot the said resolutions, should not increase a shareholders'original liability. Ihe following is a copy o£ the resolutions above referred to: 111. That £3 peKsh.iro of the present paid-up capital of the Bank bo, and the same is hereby cancelled, such capital having' been lost or being: unrepresented by available assets, and that hencefonh dividends shall bo paid on such shares as representing £7 each instead oil £10 each, the original amount thereof, but sucli reduction shall not interfere with or in any way alter the liability of shareholders to contribute a further sum of £10, as provided by tho Bank's Act aad Deod of Settlement, in the event of the assets of the Corporation being- insufficient to meet its engagements." That the Directors be empowered, at their option, to receive from sharenolders willing to pay the same £3 per share to. reinstate their shares to the original uanount of £10 per share, and on all shares so reinstated to pay dividends on the original amount of sucu shares; Provided that such payment to reinstate shares shall not render the shareholder Jiaolo to pay any further or larger amount than he would have been liable for ii: the shares, had remained at £10 each, as originally created." Notico is hereby given that the AUCKLAND GAS COMPANY (Limited) Intends to present a Petition to tho General Assembly of New Zealand jit its next Session praying for leave to introduce a Bill to bo intituled '"An Act to Amend the Auckland Gas Company's Act, The objects of the said Bill are:—To extend SO far as the same are applicable all the rights. powers, and privileges heretofore granted to the Auckland Gas Company (Limited) for androlating to tho manufacture and supply of gas, to the production and supply o; electricity (within the gas area of Cho Company in the City of Auckland and its vicinity); for lighting, heating, motive, ami other power, and for any other purposes to which the use of electricity is or may hereafter be applied or found to bo applicable, with power toconslructalt necessary works and to erect posts, elevators, and standards in the public streets and roads; to construct and manufacture olectrcil apparatus and machinery, and to purchase, acquire, apply for. and work patents in connection with tho same: to amend the provisions of " The Auckland Gas Company's Act, 1871," as to the- hire of meters and the price of gas ; to empower the Company to supply and erect on consumers' premises gas iiltmks, engines, and other apparatus: to utilise and convert the residual products arising: from the manufacture of gas, and to construct and manufacture gas apparatus and machinery, and \ to purchase, acquire, apply f or, and work patents in connection with the same; to make provision as to the quality of ga3, the testing of same, and regulating the pressure thereof; to provide that register by motor shall bo primafoMe evidence of quantity o£ gas consumed ; to flx tho price of gas, with sliding scale as to dividends, and to empower tile Company to make special contracts for rebates or discounts; to capitaliso premiums on shares sold ; to provide for the establishment of a reserve fund ; to do all such other things as arc incidental or conducive to the attaimnentof the above objects. Whereas by section four of "The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1837" (hereinafter termed "the' Eaid Act"), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may, upon 'the terms and conditions in the said section mentioned, by ■ Proclamation nablicly notified, direct that any bridge already constructed, or whicli may hereafter be constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea respectively, shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and manai'exnenV, of such local authority as shall be mentioned in that behalf in such Proclamation: And whereas it is expedient that the control and management of the bridge described in the Schedule hereto should be vested in the manner hereinafter described: Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and. authorities in me vested by the said Act, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the bridge mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and known as the Tamaki Bridge, shall, from and after the dato of the first publication hereof in tho Auckland Evening Stab newspaper, bo under the exclusive care, control, and management of the Pakuranga Road Board; and I do hereby fix and determine that the Pakuranga Road shall itself provide out of its own funds twentyfive per centum of the cost of managing and maintaining the said bridge and the appliances connected therewith, and that the Road Boards mentioned below shall from time to time, on demand in writing from the said Pakuranga Road Board, pay to the said Board such proportion of tho actual cost of managing and maintaining tho said bridge, and the appliances connected therewith, as is set opposite each of | their names respectively, namely :— | Mount Wellington Read Board, 16 per centum i panmure Road Board, 16 per centum j Ho wick Road Board, 12 per centum Tamaki West Road Board, 12 per centum Paparoa Road Board, 8 per centum Turanga Road Board, 6 per centum Tamaki East.
