The schooner Mary Campbell, with a cargo of railway girders, bound from Clarence River (Grafton) to Melbourne, sprang a leak when off" Cape Hawke, and was abandoned by the crew. When the latter were picked up by a passing steamer, the schooner was rapidly sinking.
