Drunkenness.—Two first offenders for this charge were lined 5s and costs. Larceny.—Mary Ann Mooney pleaded guilty to stealing a ham valued at 10., the property of James Bevege. Detective Hughes gave evidence as to Mr Bevege complaining of having missed the ham and witness linking, it in .the prisoner's». possession. She had been in the complainant's shop before the ham was missed. — One month with hard labour.

Driving on Footpath.—lsaac Walters pleaded guilty under extenuating circumstances to a charge of having committed a breach of the Public Works Act, 1802, by having driven his horse and cart oh the footpath at View Road, in the Mount Eden Road district. He had merely drawn up on one side to allow another vehicle to pass. Levi Stanton, ranger for the district, said the offence was frequently committed there Fined 2s and cost;' 12s. John VYm. Smith was fined a similar amount for a like offence.

Keeping a Dog.—Louis Anderson pleaded guilty to a charge of keeping a dog without a collar. Levi Stanton, registrar of dogs for the Mount Eden Road District, deponed to the dog in question not being registered. The defendant stated that the dog was not hi*, as he had gob rid of it immediately on being asked for a collar. Mr Stanton said lie wouiu not press to have the dog registered under these circumstances. Fined Is, and costs,7s.
