BUSH FIRES.
SETTLER'S HOUSE BURNED.
&.BTJSH fire is raging at Fukokohe and it is feared that i^uch damage will result. About 3 o'clock on Saturday afternoon the fire reached the dwelling-house of a settler named Robert Lirdlow, which was situated sbout two miles out; from Pukekohe settlement. The house waacompletely destroyed bat some of the contents were saved. Mr frfitdlow had his dwelling insured for £50 in Jba Imperial Office.
Woodvixle, this day. On Saturday a strong gale was blowing, md spread bush fires in the Maharahara district to such an extent that the-homes of several settlers were in great danger. JTortu - ■oately, rain fell in the afternoon, and stopped the spread of the fires.
