Brokers : The Auckland Brokers' Association. oo r „. The Promoters of this Company, being: of.opinion lhat there is a good opening for a imibei-Mill to supply local wants, Island demnnds. etc., have conceived the idea of forming, a Bmall Company upon principles quite distiuct from those which have been carried out by the large companies. The present Promoters propose to erect a cheap but effective Mill on the Auokland Harboursay, upon ono of the Harbour Board's leaseholds, '.to be obtained at a small yearly rental, capable of cutting 75.000 feet per week—and that tho Company shall not pprohase and hold bushes beyond such limited areas as may be considered absolutely necessary as a " stand-by," but shall rely for supoly of logs.on the open market and on contracts with bush-owners to supply them as roquired. The object will be to work the Company with as little dead and unproductive stock as possible. The capital required for such an undertaking would be small, and the amount of interest chargeable proportionately so, and the present time is especially opportune for purchasing mill machinery on very favourable terms. It is not at present intended io cull up more than 12s 6d per share. As to the returns which may be expected, the mill, capable of cutting 1.000,000 feet per annum, stock of logs, and reserve bash, would require irom £12,000 to £15,000 capital; this, at a moderate margin of 2s per 100 feet, would yield £4,000 per annum. ■ The Promoters have received largo promises of support, and are sanguine that a ready market will present itself for what they can produce at remunerative prices. The utmost economy will be used in the management, and the undertaking will not be loaded with promoters' shares, paid-up shares, or othc_r objectionable burdens, aud care will bo taken to avoid having to.pay interest on borrowed capital. Applications, with deposits, to be lodged with THE SECRETARY, Firth's Buildings, Auckland ; Or witli any Member of the Brokers' Association.
