ATHLETIC NOTES.
SWIMMING.
At a meeting of the Auckland fc Swimming Club held last evening, it was decided that a carnival in connection with ti'ie Club should be held about the middle of J, anuary. A very good programme is promisei 1, consisting of handicap races, at various distances, a polo match, fancy and trick swimming, and a number of other events. LAWN TENNIS. The Parnell Lawn Tennis Club art 1 to open their lawn for the season to-iuon "o\v afternoon, if tho weather permits. Me,rabers from other clubs aro cordially invitt »d to be present. PEDESTRIANISM. As will be seen by a challenge published in another column, S. Goodman, the local champion at walking, is very anxious to again meet the Brothers Hall, of Dargaville, in a pedestrian contest. He wishes a match made for £25 or £50, to como off in Auckland, and offers a consideration for expenses. No doubt a match will be the result of the challenge. AQUATICS. The following crews have been selected by their clubs to go into training for the Association Regatta that is to be held on the 15th December. bt. geoegs's.
