The servants were absent and he had a quarrel with ms wife, but he undressed himself anil went to bed on amattre«B on the floor. He a slight recollection of having received a blow on the head and he ti€zt found himself m the hospital. , . ~ Minnie Thaxter, a servant girl h»; v employ of Davies,' stated poeicively that she was home at 8.45 on the nig^t'Ottne occurrence, and all went to bed _afi iv o'clock, ab whigh hour Davies had . not arrived home." She was awakened _by Davies and his wife quarrelling. . -1 njj former threatened to. kill his wife and three children and accused her ot having been down town to see her tancy man." All was ihenquiet for sometime, but she was again awakened by ;the»r quarrelling. Mr Davies shortly alters wards came into witness's bedroom ana said she had killed her husband as he bad drawn a knife across her breast > and threatened to kill her. He bad taunted her and called her names, and she had picked up a tomahawk and struck him on the head. *
The case is likely to last all day.
