A ROYAL COMMISSION.
.; (To the Editor.) ' Sir,—-Some of those who were present at the meeting at Devonport when Jdr Monk addressed the electors there, will remember bis saying if there were not certain improyie»' meats in the government of this colony, and; a total cessation of borrowing, wo; should have a Royal Commission appointed; to inquire into'our affairs. Now none of these improvements have • been in- j trOduced, and more money has beenj borrowed, and jMr Monk has given us no fresh information on the subject. | Now, there are a great number of people ] about Auckland wbo think asr do, that the sooner that Commission is appointed the better it will be for this oblbriy, and that a petition should be sent Home asking the Home Government to _no\ c in the matter as soon as possible- We should remember that ' Natal, ? India, Jamaica, and; other colonies have ', had people sent opt to look into their affairs. Yet hone of these places were in nearly so bad a condition as we are.—l am, etc., Edwin Hakbow. Buoria Vista, Lake.
