GYMNASTIC COMPETITIONS.
Prot_ssobCarroi.l-o'B gymnasium wasagain crowded last evening, when the second series of gymnastic. competitions was decided. In the novices' light-weight boxing G. Gilmer beat C. McMasters- after a very tough bout. A. McCullough, who was also iri for this competition, boxed a bye with Professor Carrollo. The heavy-weight novices came next, and Maxwell beat Atkinson, and J. McOullough was too good for Muirj both contests being very close and considerable science shown. Three featherweights had entered for their' competition, viz,, P. Paltridge, J. Creamer and W. Sporno. The first two had a-very close and exciting match, Paltridge eventually winning, while Sporne boxed a bye. The finals did not prove so exciting, as Maxwell gave up the heavy-weight championship to J.,McCoHough wi! hou't boxing, and P. Paltridgo'declined to meet Sporne. G. Gilmer and A. MoGullough had a good match, the former giving in in the end. The display of boxing was a very good one, ana was watched with considerable interest by the fpectators. The competitions to be decided this evening are the hoavy-weight boxing and gymnastio profloienay,
