■•- ' Paris, Sept. 3. A ferocious affray has taken place &*> Limoges, in connection with the Btrike of navvies'which is still pending there. The police attempted to disperse a meeting of the men on strike, when the navvies resented the interference by attacking the police. In the fight that ensued, the women came to the assistance of their husbands and fathers, by .throwing boiling water en the police. The military were summoned to help to quell the disturbance, but the strikers disarmed both the police and soldiery and beat them severely. A sufficient armed force having arrived, however, the soldiers charged the crowds in a most ferocious manner at the point of the bayonet. A largo number of the rioters were fearfully wounded. Several of the women in the crowd were killed by the soldiers, while others were fearfully mutilated by bayonetthrusts.
The rioting was ultimately quelled by the authorities.
