Christchurch, Friday. Heavy showers fell here to-day, and the rivers in the Northern districts are reported tc be rising, but no serious floods have occurred vet.

Rain hag continued to fall all day, and there is at present no sign of it clearing. The trains arrived up to time, but if tho rain continues there is sure to be some damage to-morrow, as a large body of water is coming down in the rivers. To the South snow is falling in the interior, and if followed by warm rain heavy and disastrous floods aro likely to follow.
