ROBBERY AND ATTEMPTED MURDER.

ATTACK ON A WELLINGTON BOOT

Wellington, this day. A case of robbery and attempted murder has been . reported to the police. The victim is Frank Cousins, bootmaker' ■whose story is that on , Saturday morning he took a sum of money in notes from a box in his bedroom for the purpose of paying some bills, as he was to be married today and leave for Melbourne, and transacting this business Saturday and yesterday. Last night between ten and eleven he was returning home across the reclaimed ground and when at the back of the Opera House he was seized by two men, who he alleges were shepherding him during the day. He was thrown violently to 'he ground and lost consciousness. When he recovered he found himselt in the water near the breastwork with awound in his throat Being used to water and a good swimmer, he succeeded in gaining the shore, and remembered nothing more until he reached his home. He says he would be able to identify one of his assailants. Doctor Rawson, who sewed up the wound, says it is a flesh wound, and not dangerous.
