His Lordship Bishop Luck, speaking of the publication of the '-' Early History of _j_e Catholic Church in New Zealand," says :—" We are now celebrating the first jubilee period of the Catholic Church in New Zealand ; the publication, therefore, of this * Early History' is exceedingly appropriate, and will form an acceptable Souvenir to celebtate the first planting of the faith in this colony. The history is written by the.Apostolic Bishop Pompalller himself, of which be is the author and hero." In ac r cepting a complimentary copy, the Bishop says: "I.thank yen very sincerely for the. beautifully^bpHna copy of your edition of the 'Early History of the Catholic Church in Oceania.'
