WRECK OF THE HAWEA.

The inquiry into the wreck of the s.sB.awea, was continued this morning* George Rhind, Engineer to New Plymouth Harbour Board* gave evidence, and proved having swept the bottom of the harbour with a chainabcsutthelocality where the Hawfea is supposed to have struck arid finding no obstruction. On the following day he was told by a Maori that a rock existed about 400 feet inshore from where the Hawea lies. He examined the place and found a rock. John Bell diver,proved having made athoroughsurvoy of the bottom but he found nothing. This closed the case for the prosecution. Mr Edwards said he would call no evidence for the defence. The Court then adjourned till the afternoon, when Mr Edwards will give his address for the defence.
