Drunkenness. — Four first offenders were fined 53 and costs each, or 24 hours in default.

Dkunk and Disorderly.—George Fbx pleaded guilty to having been drunk and disorderly.—Constable Dewes deposed thiat the man was at the Railway Station and assaulted two persons. He was compelled to get assistance before he could arrest him.—His Worship inflicted a fine of £5 and costs or one month in default.

The Three-Card Trick.—Mr A. Whitaker said he had an application to make rto the Court with regard to a man nan-ted William Noble. His Worship would no doubt remember that the man Noble had been fined £50 for playing tho three-catrd trick. At that time Mr W. J. Napier, who appeared for the accused, had given notice of appeal. The papers had been filed, but the 14 days had now elapsed and no further stops had been taken in the matter. Perhaps before he made his application Mir Napier would 3tate whether or not he intended to proceed further with the matter. —Mr Napier said that he had received his costs and had acted under instructions when he ga^e notice of appeal. His cliei it had, however, now determined not to proceed further with the matter. — Mir Wbitaker then asked on behalf of Mr Chaafe and Captain Palmer—who went bail for Noble—that they might be relieved «of further responsibility. He made the application under Section 228 of the Act.— His Worship granted the application, remarking that it was singular that men should be willing to go bail for whom tbey did not know. Captain Palmer had told him that he had not previously known tine prisoner.
