SUPREME COURT SESSIONS.

Dcnedin, this day. At the criminal sessions Andrew Frederickson was sentenced to three years for forgery. John Taylor and Andrew Reid, for horse-stealing, were convicted, and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. Elizabeth Deans,- charged with forging a post-office withdrawal receipt for £5, was acquitted.

Christchurch, this day.

The Supreme Court criminal sittings opened yesterday, before Mr Justice Ward, who congratulated the Grand Jury on the lightness of the calendar, and expressed his sense of the loss sustained by the colony through the death of Mr Justice Johnston. Esther Matilda Everett pleaded guilty to forging a cheque for £11 on the Colonial Bank. The probation officer reporting very favourably, she was placed on probation for 12 months.

At the Supreme Court to-day Henry Fuller, for receiving stolen property, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment. Thomas Ewart pleaded guilty to horse stealing and was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment. A boy named Alexander F. McMinn, who pleaded guilty to stealing a diamond ring, will be brought up to-morrow for sentence. The sessions are expected to conclude to-morrow.

George Ewart, charged with the larceny of a gun, has been acquitted.
