SENTENCE OF DEATH.
ATTEMPTED WIFE . MURDER.
Melbourne, June 26,
■ Charles Markham, who attempted to murder his wife, Laura Markham, at South Richmond, on April 27th, by shooting her with a revolver, was tried to-day. The jury returned a verdict of ."guilty," with a recommendation' to mercy. The Judge passed sentence of death. ■
