Drunkenness.—Three first offenders were ii:iedssandcoot3each, or in default 24 hours' hard labour.

Failing to Pbovide.—George Stephens was chai'ged with failing to provide^for the . upport of his two children, as ordered by : iio Court, £9 arrears having accumulated. The defendant pleaded guilty, and said he v. ould pay as soon as he had the money. Oiiscene Language.—Elizabeth Bickerton was charged with using obscene language in Grey - street. — The defendant j beaded not guilty.— Mr Bromn'eld appeared ;'or the accused and applied for a remand until Monday next. This was granted.— Alary Norton, charged with a similar ollence, was also adjourned until Monday.

Affiliation Cases. —Charles Garrett was charged with refusing to support the illegitimate child of one Kate Griffin.—The ilef end ant pleaded not guilty.—Mr W. J. Napier appeared for the complainant, and Mr Humphreys for the defendant.—Mr Napier said that the defendant admitted die paternity, and had offered 7s per week towards the maintenance of the child. They, however, wished to have an order for 10s per week.—Mr Humphreys said this was correct. They were; willing to pay 7s per week di! } take charge of the child.— Evidence wasigiven by. the mother of the child, that 'tine' child could not be kept under 10s per week.—Cross-examined by Mr Humphreys, she deposed that this was her second child. She got an order against the last man, but he had gone away. She had asked the defendant to pay the nurse £1, and he had done so. He offered witness 5s per .^veek. Witness had been confined at the Refuge.—Mrs Mary Ann Follis, nurse, deposed to .having cared for Miss Griffin's child for 6 weeks. Tho defendant paid her £1, the sum claimed from him. Miss Griffin paid her £1 18s Od. She would take the child for 7s per week. She had asked 10s per week.—Under the circumstances, His Worship made an order for 7s per week without any costs.
