THAMES PUMPING QUESTION.
MEETING OF THE DRAINAGE
BOARD,
A meeting of the Thames Drainage Board waa held at the office of Mr D. G. MacDonnell yesterday afternoon. Present, Messrs J. M. Lennox, Jas. Frater, S. Turtle, T. Morrin, R. Spratt, R. Comer, J. McGowan and A Brodie. The usual business was transacted and Mr Spratt resolution to the effect that Government be requested to secure the allocation of the gold dug within the drainage area of the Big Pump for the maintenance of the pump. The resolution was opposed by the Thames local bodies representatives, and by Mr Mournr on the ground that the gold dug should be the property of the local bodies for the maintenance of roads. The mofcion was, however, carried by a majority of five votes to three, and the Secretary was. instructed to communicate the Board's de» cision to the Government.
