General Cameron Dead.
London, June 12.
General Sir Duncan A. Cameron, G. 0.8., who commanded the Imperial forces in New Zealand in 1863, is dead : aged 80
The deceased officer was born in 180° and entered the army in 1825, becoming Lieut-Colonel of the 42nd Ragt. in 1854. He commanded that regiment at the Battle of the Alma, and the Highland Brigade at the Battle of Balaklava. In .1863 he was sent to New Zealand to conduct the campaign against the Maoris, and took part in many notable engagements notably Rangiriri and Orakau. From 1868 to 1871 he was Governor of the 'Military College at Sandhurst. He became JLC.B. in 1854, G.C.B. in 1873, and in 1875 was promoted to the rank, of General in the Army.
