THE PROMOTION OF SERGEANT PRATT.
CONGRATULATIONS FROM BENCH
AND BAR,
Prior to commencing the ordinary business at the Police Court this morning, His Worship, Mr H. C. Baddeley, referred to the promotion of Senior Sergeant Pratt to the position of Sorgeant-iYlajor. He expressed his satisfaction at the recognition by the Government of Sergeant Pratt's services, and he felt sure that in thus speaking he was only giving expression to the feeling of all those who had been brought into contact with Sergeant Pratt. Mr Thomas Cotter, as senior member of the Bar present in Court, also expressed pleasure at the promotion of Sergeant Pratt. He said that he could only reiterate the remarks of His Worship upon the matter. Sergeant Pratt had always afforded members of the profession the utmost information consistent with his duty. He had always been most obliging consistent with the due administration of the law intrusted to him. They all felt very much pleased indeed at tho recognition which the Government had now placed upon Sergeant-Major Pratt by his promotion. Sergeant-Major Pratt briefly responded for the kindly expressions of good feeling from the Bench and Bar. He was very thankful to them for noticing such a matter.
