IMPERIAL DEFENCE.
London, May 11. The Imperial Defence Bill, which j, as just been circulated, provides for the ratification of the agreement deAd at the Colonial Conference belireen the Colonial Governments and the Imperial Government concerning Australasian naval defences. The inthorities intend expending the sura o |-/85,000 in building and arming a "squadron'for Australian waters, the colonies repaying the amount at the end of twelve years with 3 per cent. forest. The Bill provides also for expending the sum of for h defence of ports and coaling Stations, the interest on which will be payable out of the Suez Canal dividends.
