THE CASE OF MRS SHARPE.
(To the Editor.)
Str.-^I sco by your leader in last night's Star that you are labouring under a mistake concerning a shawl that was given to Mrs Sharpo. The day before Mrs Shavpe diod, a lady (nob Mrs Bnsley) gave Mrs Sharpe a ,shawl, which I never interfered with in any way whatever. Tho day after .Mrs Sharpo died tho lady called at the Refuge and I offered to return the shawl, but tho lady said she would not think of takinganything-back she had given Mrs Sharpe, and I could give it to one of the inmates, which I did. On the Saturday ■after, Mrs Basloy sent me a message I was ■to give the shnwf to'ariobher inmate. I wrote a note to Mrs Basley, returning two or 'three small articles:which.belonged to her, telling her another lady had given tho shawl, and it-was disposed of. Mrs Btvdey brought two eggs and asked mo to beat them up, and I told her I would get them done. I gave them to one of thef inmates' to beat up for her, and -it tocut clone. That was all I ever received in the way of delicacies for Mrs Sharpe, as her friends always came and gave them to her themselves, which lam prepared to prove.—l. am, etc., E. Walters, Matron. May 11.
