THE FRESH WATER BATHS.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—Your correspondent"Sanitas" writos maintaining that I have " evidently noo studied" his letter, or I would not have stated that he said tho water was nncloan. Any of your renders referring to ins ui-sli letter will sco that "unclean water' was precisely the term lie did use; moreover, that the adjective describing tho water stands in italics. If, as " Sanitas" says, tho s tuple question is, "how often are the baths cleaned ?" and that ho was not objecting to the water itself, what need was there then for mooting tho advisability of annnulybia ot the water by Mr Pond! Either your correspondent's memory has slipped him on tins occasion as to what he really did write, or his mode ot controversy is, to speak plain y not straightforward. How often are tho baths cleaned ? Once a fortnight when they are emptied and refilled, they are then thoroughly scoured and cleansed. llie best thing "Sanitas." can do is to visit tho baths on such occasions and observe the fact for himself.--lam, etc. J. O. Oox.
