GOOD FRIDAY CHURCH SERVICES.

O.v Good Friday the usual services were held in the various churches of the city :—

St. Matthew's.—ln themorningthe Rev. W. Tebbs read a short meditation by Dr. Walshamstow, Bishop of Bedford, on " The Death." In the evening the preacher was the Rev. C. E. Bice, of the Melanesian mission. The choir rendered Gesse's anthem "O Saviour of the World" in a pleasing manner. St. Paul's.—The Rev. C, M. Nelson conducted the services at this church, preaching on both occasions. Holt Sepulchre. —Ab this church the Yen. Archdeacon Dudley conducted a service of the litany at 8 a.m. and also gave a short address. The usual morning service was held at eleven o'clock, and a children's service at half-past two. In the evening a very appropriate sermon was delivered by the Rev. J. H. Plant, M.A. All Saints'.—Four services were held ab this church yesberday, at all of which the incumbent presided. In the afternoon there was a service for children.

St. Thomas's.-The services in this church were well attended. Ab 8 a.m. the litany and hymn were gone through ; matins and ante-communi. a service at 11. evensong at 7.30. The incumbent preached at matins and evensong. In the afternoon a service was conducted in' the schoolroom, when addresses on the " Seven Words from the Cross " were given, and several suitable hymns on the P&saioa sung. •

St. Mart's, Parnell,-At the Cathedral services commenced at 7 a.na., when holy communion was administered. At 9 a.m. a children's service was held, and at 10 o'clock morning prayer was held, and a sermon was preached by the Bey. Mr Walpole. In the afternoon, from one to three o'clock, the service took the form of meditations on the last seven sayings on the cross, conducted by the Rev. Mr Walpole, who also preached at the evening service. Holy Trinity Church.—The Rev. J. Bates officiated at the services in this church, when a suitable sermon was preached. Epiphany Church.—At this church the usual services were conducted by the incumbent, the Re. Dr. O'Callaghan. Pitt-street Wesleyan.—At this church two holiness meetings were held, the Rev. H. Bull presiding on each occasion. Devotional exercises and personal testimonies were gone through. St. Patrick's R.C. Church.—At this church St, Patrick's choir performed theholyweek music in a very creditable manner. The way of the cross, with a new " Stabat Mater" by Webbe, was performed. On Wednesday evening, Father McManus took as his text, ."Whose sins ye shall forgive thoy are forgiven." On Thursday the caremonies were unusually impressive. The choir, under the direction of Dr. Egan, performed "Concoar's Mass," and in tho evening Father O'Gara preached a sermon on the "Holy Eucharist." Yesterday (Good Friday), at ten o'clock, the Mass of the pre-sanctified was given. The Passion was sung by Dr. Egan, Fathers Lenihan and Kehoe. In the evening, Father Kehoe preached on "The Crucifixion." The Pas. on music was very efficiently sung by Dr. Egan and Fathers Lenihan and Kehoe.

St. Benedict's Church.—The mass of the Host Pre-sanctified was offered in the morning, and at three p.m. the Stations of the Cross were recited. The Rev. Father O'Gara preached in the eveniner, when the Tenebne service was chanted, the choir singing the "Lamentations." Mr Knox officiated as conductor of the choir.

City Hall.—An evangelistic service was held last evening. Mr C. E. Button preached Irom Matthew xxxvii chap., 35th verse. The Rev. W. L. Salter also spoke. Tho evangelistic choir sang appropriate hymns, among others: "The Cross, the Cross, the Bloodstained Cross," " Man of Sorrows," " O Christ, What Burdens Bowed Thy Head."
