THE MITCHELSTOWN RIOT.

PROCEEDINGS TO SET ASIDE THE VERDICT OF MURDER.

Dublin, January 26. Proceedings have been taken to quash the inquest held at Mitchelstown, in which a verdict of wilful murder was returned against the county inspector, Mr Brownrigg, and Constables Kirwin Gavin, Darran, Ryder, and Brennan, and warrantsissuedfortheirarrest. The grounds on which it is sought to upset the inquiry are that the Coroner, ft. Rice was partial, also that certain of the jurors were biassed, it having been shown that they were actively engaged in the riot in which three victims upon whom inquest was held were killed, and that therefore the inquiry was not a legal one.
