AUCKLAND REGATTA.
The annual Auckland Regatta of 1888 will be held on Monday, and promises to be one of the most successful ever held. Two of the races have been dropped owing to there being no entries, viz., the races for trading vessels of 50 tons and for trading vessels of 25 tons. Great interest is being taken in the various events, and the struggles promise to be even keener than in previous years. The N. Z. Shipping Co. 's splendid vessel the Waitangi has been placed at the disposal of the committee to act as flagship, and all who patronise her will be enabled to obtain a good view of all theraces. The Awhina has been.chartered for the day, and will ply between the wharf and the flagship for the convenience of those holding flagship tickets, and when the Champion Race is on she will with, a limited number of passengers follow the race. The entries for many of the races are good, and in some of them better than were expected. The Regatta Committee held a full meeting last night, when the final arrangements for the regatta were made, and afterwards the following entries were received for the various events:— '•■..
