Copper is quoted at .£47 10s, and the market is firm. Sugar is 14s per cwt.

A meeting of the representatives of the following mines situated afc Karangahake will be held to-day at the office of Mr McDonald Scofct :—Crown, Rose, Diamond, Sutro, Josephine, Adeline and Dubbo. The business to be considered is the advisability of consolidating the various mines named into one strong company for the purpes j of working the mines more satisfactorily. It is thought thafc if some such plan is adopted the Company might secure Railey's plant, and also the tramway, which should greatly facilitate the working of the various reefs opened up in the respective claims-

Tho Christmas Tree and sate of work in the Foresters' Hall, Karangahape Road, is a peculiarly interesting exhibition. The ladies of the congregation, bave exhibited great taste and judgment in the preparation of their work. Many of the articles are of the most useful character, while cushions, tea cosies and fancy tables, and useful articles of clothing innumerable have been beautifully decorated with the needle, a fcable in this exhibition contains some of the rarer greenhouse plants, comprising species of c.aefci and kolen with strange plants from the South Seas and elsewhere. The exhibition will again be open to-nio-ht, and towards the close Mr Evens will clear off the remainder of the goods by auction.
