CußisTCituitcn, this day. The estimated attendance at tho agricultural show on Friday last was 20,000. Tho takings nt the gate amounted to £929, about £200 more than last year. Sheep showed a great increase in excellence, though somo Canterbury exhibits boro traces of tho bad winter. No North Island sheep were entered, but Otago, Southland, and Marlborough flocks were largely represented. The principal feature of the cattlo display was the grand array of shorthorns. Draught horses were also good; light horses, with tho exception of blood sires, were poor. Bundoora tcok the first prize for best entiro. In tho show in the implement classes, in which no prizes were given, Messrs Reid und Gray, of Dunedin ; Messrs Duncan, Andrews, and Bevan, and Booth and McDonald, of Christchurch, fairly divided the honours in the public estimation. The President's (Mr J. Dean's) prizes were awarded as follows :—The highest prize taken for sheep was by the Hon. Mr Holmes ; cattle, Messrs Rogerson and Fleming ; horses, Mr W. Boag ; pigs, Messrs J. Rowe, Alex. Porter, and S. Manning ; clay goods, Mr Luke Adams ; cooking ranges, Messrs Scott Bros. Mr M. Macfarlane' cup, for the highest prizetakerin Ayrshires,was won by Messrs Rogerson and Fleming , . The stock sales did not realise high prices. The principal buyers were Mr Duncan McMaster, of Wairarapa, and Mr McHardic, of Napier.

At a meeting of the creditors of Henry White, stationer, held to-day, the tender of Daddlcy and Son, £180 15s, was accepted for tho stock, fixtures and library.

At his auction mart to-day Mr Gabriel Lewis sold two properties in the estate of Mr I). IT. McKenzie. A valuable hotel property in Mercury Bay, known as the Empire Hotel, was sold for £280. 1,485 shares in the Northern Steamship Company, with 12s 6d paid up ou each share, realised 2s lid per share.

The mortal remains of Mr Bishop, late of this city, and who was murdered at San Francisco some months ago, were interred in the Church of England cemetery, Waikomiti, to-day, i The cortege left Messrs Winks and Hall's establishment, Shorfcland-street, at 1 o'clock to-day, there being four mourning carriages. Amongst the mourners were Mrs Bishop and her sister, Mr J. Rae, the executor under the will of deceased, and Mr W. H. Haszard. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Jacob Alloway. A large number of persons, attracted by curiosity, were in the vicinity of Winks and Hall's establishment when the cad procession started on its journey.

There has been a fair demand for Bank of New Zealand shares, and sales are quoted at £12 17a 6d and £13. Other stocks are quiet. There are sellers of Loan and Mercantile at 695, aiid New Zealand Insurance at 70s. Land Mortgage have been placed at 21s, with sellers 21s 6d. Saxon are a shade quieter ; there aro sellers 4s 3d, and Cambria about 3s 6d. The accounts from the Royal Oak are encouraging, but there is no quotation for this stock. Caledonian sellers about 6s. There is considerable interest taken in the trial lots being put through for the pro.spoctors at Hikutaia. So far, wo have not heard any actual results.
