ASSAULT ON THE HIGH SEAS.

At the Police Court to-day, Alexander

Eamsay was charged with having, on the 31st of October, on the high seas, and aboard the as., Wairarapa, unlawfully and maliciously assaulting one Thomas .leisler with an instrument called a shovel. Mr Whitaker appeared for complainantj and Mr i O'Meagher for defendant. Counsel stated that the parties in this case had settled their differences 1 outside of the Court, and that the defendant had agreed to pay the costs. Sergeant Pratt stated that the matter had been reported to the police in. the first instance, and they had got together the necessary witnesses.
