The County elections, which take place on the 16th prox., are exciting a good deal o£ inberesb. The following are the probable candidates for the various ridings :—Kauaeranga: Messrs D. W. Pitkethley, J. L. Walton, and W. S. Greenville. Waiotahi: Messrs A. Brodie and Jas. Coutts. Parawai : Messrs \V. Murdoch and W. Carpenter. Hastings: Messrs J. B. Steedman and W. Deeble. Totara : Messrs J. Townsend and J. Nicholls:
It has been decided by the Ladies' Benevolent Society to hold the annual Flower Show in the Academy of Music on or about the 23rd prox. The disbursement of charitable aid ia causing seme comment here, it being asserted that some of those in receipt of relief are owners of freehold property, and well able to support themselves. The matter is likely to come before the Charitable Aid Board at its next meeting.
