CITY COUNCIL ELECTION.
Nominations were received as follows yesterday for the vacancies in the City
Council :—
East W tard.—Mr W. Crowther, nominated by Messrs L. Mason and G. H. \ Leaning ; Mr H. E. Brabazon, nominated' by Messrs T. B. Hill andC. R. Chapman. , North Ward.—Mr Charles Atkin, nominated by Messrs T. T. Masefield and W. P. ' Hoffmann ; Mr P. Gleeson, nominated by Messrs W T. Brownhill and Jas. Heron; Captain John Nearing, nominated by Messrs M. Montague and J. A. Pond. South Ward.—ln this ward, Mr D. Goldie, nominated by Messrs T. W. Doonin and R. Farrell, was the only candidate, and he has therefore been declared elected.
Grafton Ward. —Mr E. Parsons, nominated by Messrs G. P. Pierce and F. A. White ; Mr James Paterson, nominated by Messrs C. S. S. George and S. B. Lush. Karangahape Ward.—MrJamesDavies, nominated by Messrs Edwin Wood and Thomas Hobson; Lieutenant-Colonel Mahon, nominated by Messrs P. Brophy and R. G. Newbegin; Mr Thomas Henry White, nominated by Messrs Joseph Warren and A. B. Morrow.
Ponsonby Ward.—Mr Edward Cooper, ! nominated by Messrs George Cruikshank and R. A. Lusher, was the only candidate, and he has been declared elected.
