ELECTION NOTES.
There is every likelihood of the contest for the Ponsonby seat developing into a threecornered duel. Messrs Peacockand Wright have been before the public for some weeks, and now we learn there is every probability of a third candidate coming forward in the person of Mr Edward Cooper, solicitor, and a member of the Auckland City Council. Mr Cooper, who was the recipient of a very flattering requisition to-day, stated that he would take a short time to consider whether he would allow himself to be nominated.
Mr Wright's committee met last night and went through a good deal of routine work.
A highly satisfactory meeting of Mr Morrison's committee was held last evening. We are requested to state that Mr Morrison will certainly go to the poll.
A meeting of Mr Mitchelson's friends and supporters was held last evening for the purpose of forming an election committee. The rolls were gone through, and good work done in furtherance of Mr Mitchelson's candidature.
Mr B. Withy will deliver a political address at St. Sepulchre's school-room this evening at 7.30.
