A hitch has occurred in. completing for the Anglo-Aus-tralian mail contract. It is likely that the Government would consent to (huge the subsidy against general revenue. Sir Saul Samuel has been informed by Mr Cecil Eaikes, Post-master-General, that a reduction is possible on fhe conveyance of Austrar lan mails by .France and Italy. A reduction on Incf.vm letters of 2A-d is certain, 'The Government have promised next session to appoint a select committee to inquire hSfco the Australian postage system.
