Caledokian. — The trial crushing from the big reef in the Red Queen (section yielded at the rate of about Bdwts pet load, and the manager now intends to keep ten stampers .going on quartz from this lode for a fortnight in order to accurately ascertain its- value. . .The trials from the, intermediate level between No. 2 and 3, and the specimen, hangingwall leader, were? scarcely payable.ll • New Manukatj.—There is a noticeable improvement in the prospects of this mine, which is under the able management of Mr Sijmtn, and is worked'from the Waiotahi shaft.' Stopihg has been' commenced on the reef at No. 4 level which has just, been opened up, and there is a vast supply 6f quartz available which should yield well. ;■ When breaking down yesterday (Monday) afternoon, the satisfactory haul /of .2Qlbs.; picked stone was obtained, while colours and dabs of gold were freely- discernable through the general dirt. Crushing is now proceeding and is shaping for. a good return. r Cleaning up will" probablyV take place in a day* or two. • Saxon*.—A-new reef has beencut beyond the last break at No 4 level, in which nice colours of gold have been seen.
