Some firebricks proved defective, and it was necessary to step bloving for a short time in ctder, to; replacethe defective bricks. Mr HipKns state 3 that he has every confidence in the result of the smelting, and would lib ■ to*rail the ifurnace' contiguously for three months without stopping. This depth on the association, being able to provide the necessary funds.' Five tons of metal have been produced, and it is expected that to-night there will be a good tapping, which willadd to the stock of metal. All tie machinery is working well, and the prospects continue bright. ' The principal difficulty:is with regard to the finances, and great efforts will be made to obtain tUbscriptions. All subscribers will receive shares in the new company to be formed to thoamount'of their subscriptions.
