Major Atkinson.
A largely-signed requisition lias been presented to the Hon. Major Atkinson, asking him to address a public meeting in Wellington. It is, understood that the Major has consented to do so, but. owing , to his numerous engagements/he is at present unable-to fix a date.

In matters political there is not much doing here afc present. Mi* Carson, Mr Balliince's opponent for.Wanganui, speaks on Wednesday next, and Mr Hutchinson, one of the candidates for Waitotara, speaks on Saturday., Mr Bryce has not.fixed date yet. ■.
